Rough Collie was created by crossbreeding the old race used as a sheepdog in the elevated areas of Scotland.
The breed has also been used to work as guide dogs for the blind, search and rescue dogs, and therapy dogs.
Collie breed comes in two variations, with short or long coat.
Today there are more long coated Collies than short coated ones, because long coat makes them look much more beautiful and graceful .
What you should know about Rough Collie?
This dog is very intelligent, and it learns quickly. Its gentle nature is sensitive, loves attention and playing with its family to which it is very attached. It is advisable for this breed to live in the family, and not in the kennel.
Rough Collie also doesn’t like living indoors and the city. It likes walking and running, it can easily follow you as you ride your bike for hours. It does not tolerate force, nor aggressiveness, and it is easily controlled.
In the mid 20th century, Collie’s popularity became international, when it appeared in the movie “Lassie is coming home.” The film describes the best qualities of this breed realistically.
