The Chihuahua is the smallest breed in the world. It originated in Mexico, and lately it’s become very popular among celebrities, who are carrying their Chihuahuas in expensive designer purses.
The most popular Chihuahua in the world is Paris Hilton’s Chihuahua Tinkerbell. They make a great companion dog because they form very strong bond with their owners and they are very good tempered dogs. They are also very fond of snuggling.
These beuties are extremely loyal to their owners and very eager to give and receive affection from them. They also make extremely good watch dogs, because of their big ears and strong hearing. As the Chihuahua is generally an indoor dog, it is not fond of the cold.
What makes Chihuahua unique?
Despite the many qualities of the Chihuahua, if you’re thinking its tiny size makes it a great choice for children, you’d better think again. It’s too small and fragile and it can easily be hurt when playing with children. Chihuahuas can be easily provoked to attack, the reason more for them to be unsuitable for living with small children. They tend to be prone to nipping, and even biting when frightened or threatened.
Chihuahuas aren’t aware of their own size and won’t hesitate to challenge a dog much larger than themselves. The Chihuahua breed is very yappy and won’t tolerate any intrusion into its territory.
They come in two coat types, short and long but the long-haired breed typically sheds less than the short-haired ones.
